40 YEARS OF QUALITY

During the second half of the 1950’s, Argentina experienced an important economic and industrial development which was, in turn, cause and consequence of a remarkable growth of construction and an increase in number of cars.
The demand of paints and synthetic coatings by industries was quickly followed by the demand from individuals and retailers, who asked for removers and solvents to re-paint their houses and cars. The specific diluent to dilute car paints is known as “thinner”.

At the end of the 70’s, it was common to mix white spirit with products of lower quality and price. Hugo Rodríguez decided to label their containers as “Aguarrás Mineral norma IRAM 6511” (“White Spirit IRAM Standard 6511”) and immediately benefitted through reputation and differentiation. Currently White Spirit IRAT 100 x 100 pure is the market’s most appreciated diluent for synthetic paints.

In 1981, the Argentine Air Force launched public tender offer for purchase of re-painting materials, including a universal diluent that would be able to ease application of high solids synthetic coatings.

Hugo Rodríguez was rated satisfactorily and included the new formula into his list of products with the brand POLI-USO, which still today is a universal diluent of superior performance when lacquer is applied with spray machine under extreme weather conditions.

In 1983, when the company was organized as a corporation limited by shares, Hugo Rodríguez y Cía S.A. started building a new industrial plant with a processing capacity of 1,500,000 liters in a 6 hectare facility, located in Brandsen.

Hugo Rodríguez y Cía. S.A.’s sustainability is based on the reputation of its products, a thorough knowledge of market and an austere and productive economic culture. The company, its brands and its human resources are strongly motivated by the aspirational and determined character of its founder.
